Frequently Asked Questions

Is Acupuncture painful?

Our insertion style of Acupuncture is quite gentle and is performed with very thin needles. Sometimes you'll feel a light prick or aching, but this is followed by a feeling of relief and calm in the body and mind. Most patients relax deeply and often fall asleep during Acupuncture treatment. If you prefer not to have a needle prick your skin at all, Salvador specializes in a very gentle non-insertion acupuncture treatment called Traditional Japanese Acupuncture. What does Chinese Medicine treat?

Through Acupuncture, herbs, diet and exercise, Chinese Medicine is a comprehensive system that can help you improve your health and well being and provide profound effects for a multitude of conditions ranging from pain and injury to internal diseases. Chinese Medicine is especially effective for treating difficult conditions that cause chronic degeneration in the body, including autoimmune disorders.

Is Acupuncture only helpful for problems related to pain?

No - Acupuncture is a complete medical system that can effectively treat pain and restore health in all areas of your life. From acute to chronic diseases, Acupuncture treats a wide range of conditions and is especially effective for digestive and metabolic disorders, hormonal problems, emotional imbalances, and chronic degenerative diseases that are difficult to manage through Western medicine alone.

Can Chinese Medicine help with fertility issues?

Yes. Chinese Medicine can support a woman through the phases of her menstrual cycle to ensure a healthy response in each phase and significantly improve her chances of getting pregnant. Chinese Medicine has also proven to be extremely effective to restore male fertility and virility. Chinese Medicine is extremely helpful to optimize a couple's overall health and can be used as a standalone treatment to increase fertility, or in conjunction with Western treatments such as IVF or IUI.

Can I take herbal medicine even if I am using pharmaceutical drugs?

Yes. Herbal supplements can be used to complement the action of Western medications and herb-drug interactions are always considered when prescribing an herbal formula. Herbs can treat side effects of Western drugs as well as conditions or imbalances in the body that Western medications may not address. With the guidance of your Chinese Medicine and Western physicians, herbal medicine can over time support you to reduce or even discontinue the use of pharmaceutical drugs.

What if I don't have any serious health conditions? Can Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine still benefit me?

Absolutely. In fact, Classical Chinese Medicine was originally used as preventive medicine. The primary duty of the royal family's doctor was to keep the Emperor healthy. Unfortunately, in modern society most of us don't pay attention to our health until something is wrong with it. Incorporating regular Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine treatments into your life will not only prevent greater health problems from manifesting but it will also balance your internal system to help you feel stronger and more clear physically and mentally in your everyday life. Benefits of Chinese Medicine include:

  • Relieves pain

  • Aids in weight loss

  • Supports the immune system, which also helps with seasonal allergies

  • Improves memory and concentration

  • Improves mood

  • Relaxes the mind

  • Improves flexibility and mobility

  • Helps improve vision

  • Increases fertility

  • Increases energy

  • Supports hormone balance

...and so much more!
